Final Notes

Overall, I found this course to be very resourceful. I found that the GIMP software was rather complex and I struggled a lot with it when creating my GIF. It took me four hours to figure it out! However, when it came to creating my lower thirds, I found that it was a little easier since I was a bit more familiar with the program. Making a meme was super easy and I thought it was a great first assignment. I really enjoyed creating my infographic and PowToons video. I thought that they were going to be much more challenging than they were. The assignments really made me turn to my creative side and not only challenged, but significantly improved my editing skills and familiarity with the software programs we used. Overall, I really enjoyed this class!

Video Portfolios

Video Portfolio Safari:

This is the video portfolio I found on YouTube. This video is from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. While it is very long, I am quite impressed with it. I think video portfolios can fit almost every career, but fit the more visual careers the best.

 Video Portfolio I Created:
This is the video portfolio I created using PowToon. This website was very easy and a lot of fun to use. It was very easy to create this video portfolio and I didn't find anything to be difficult.

Lower Thirds- Typography & Graphics

Typography and University Branding Safari:

This is a graphic used by Princeton University. While it isn't a bad logo, I think it could be improved to look more prestigious, especially since it is representing an Ivy League school. I don't think this kind of logo design would be a good fit for CASL here at UMD because it would need to look more prestigious and should include the name of the University.

Lower Thirds I Created:

This is the lower thirds graphic I created for UMD using GIMP. Though I was more familiar with GIMP from creating a GIF, I still found the program a bit challenging. Just like creating a GIF, I think creating the lower thirds is the hardest part. Again, I found coming up with an idea and design was rather easy.

GIFs

GIF Safari:

This is the GIF I found using Safari. I love this GIF because it is from one of my favorite TV shows, Friends. In the GIF my favorite character, Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc, is using his "weird eye contact" to get two of his friends to let him and the other friends in for Thanksgiving dinner.

GIF I Created:

This is the GIF I created using GIMP. I found this program very difficult to use as it was my very first time using it. Thus, I found that the hardest part of making a GIF is creating it. Coming up with an idea was rather easy.

Infographics

Infographic Safari:

This is the infographic I found using Safari. I like it because it is eye-catching, cute, informative, and well-organized. I think the only two things I would change about it are some of the font sizes and adding what can be done to help the polar bears.

Infographic I Created:

This is the infographic I created using Piktochart. This website was easy to use once I became familiar with it. I think coming up with a well-organized, eye-catching design/ layout is the hardest part of creating an infographic.

Memes

Meme Safari:

I found this meme on Instagram under the hashtag "meme." It was posted by user @bcous. It is not clear if she is the creator or not. This meme is definitely one I'm sure many women can relate to.

Meme I Created:

This is the meme I created using the website makeameme.org.  I found this website very easy to use. I think the hardest part of creating a meme is coming up with an idea.
